Fabric & Care Guide
THE KINSHIP CARE STANDARD.
We build our goods to last. Whether it's our signature heavyweight cotton, our durable fleece, or our canvas carry-alls, every item is chosen for its ability to age gracefully.
However, high-quality natural fibres need to be treated with respect. To keep your Good Kinship™ gear looking fresh for years, follow these guidelines.
1. The Golden Rules (For Everything)
If you only read one thing, read this.
- Cold Wash Only: Hot water is the enemy of cotton and custom prints. Stick to a gentle cold cycle (30°C max).
- Wash Inside Out: This is crucial. It protects the print or embroidery from rubbing against zippers, buttons, and denim in the machine.
- Skip the Dryer: High heat destroys fibres and can crack prints. Hang dry in the shade for the best result. (The Aussie sun does a better job for free).
- Do Not Iron Prints: Never iron directly over a print or embroidery. If you must iron, turn the garment inside out first.
2. Heavyweight Tees & Cotton Goods
(Includes: The Daily Driver, Longsleeves, Kids Tees)
Our tees are crafted from 100% Combed Cotton. While they are pre-shrunk, cotton is a natural fibre and can still shrink slightly (3-5%) if exposed to high heat.
- Wash: Machine wash cold with like colours.
- Dry: Line dry in the shade.
- Stains: Treat spots immediately with cold water. Avoid harsh bleach.
3. Fleece & Hoodies
(Includes: The Kinship Fleece, Zip Hoodies, Baby Suits)
Our fleece collection uses a Cotton/Poly blend to balance warmth with durability.
- Pilling: To prevent pilling (those little fluff balls), always wash inside out on a gentle cycle.
- Embroidery Care: Keep zippers zipped up during the wash to prevent them snagging on the embroidery thread.
- Softness: Air drying keeps the inner fleece soft and fluffy. Tumble drying can "bake" the fleece, making it rougher over time.
4. Canvas & Accessories
(Includes: The Sunday Tote, Aprons)
Our totes are made from Heavyweight Cotton Canvas.
- Cleaning: We recommend spot cleaning with a damp cloth and mild soap for small marks.
- Washing: If you must wash the whole bag, wash it cold by hand. Machine washing can sometimes alter the structure/shape of heavy canvas bags.
